Raging inferno claims piece of Darling Downs history
BREAKING: Police have ruled out suspicious circumstances behind a fire at the historic Glenlyon homestead at the weekend.
Stanthorpe police report multiple emergency response units attended the Glenlyon Dam Rd property about 10.30pm Friday with reports a fire had engulfed the homestead.
While unable to save the homestead, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services units managed to stop the fire spreading to nearby guests' accommodation quarters.
Stanthorpe police said the fire was not being treated as suspicious and have put the cause down to an electrical fault.
EARLIER: A homestead in Glenlyon has been destroyed in a fire on Friday night.
Emergency services said crews were called to the homestead on Glenlyon Dam Rd at about 11.15pm on Friday.
The fire was under control at 1.51am on Saturday.
There were seven people in the house at the time of the fire - four adults and three children.
They were all able to vacate the house to safety.
The cause of the fire was unknown and investigations are continuing.
