BOXING: It will be an emotion-charged confrontation when Tommy Browne steps into the ring against Anthony Mundine next month in Sydney.

It will be two years after his younger brother Davey was due to fight 'The Man' before he was tragically killed from the effects of a knockout blow while fighting Filipino Carlo Migali.

He spent a week in a coma before passing away.

"I had to take a long time away from the sport after Davey passed away but I'm now hungrier than ever to succeed and make him proud,” Browne, 34, said.

"Nothing will change what happened, nothing will bring Davey back, but every day I train, every drip of sweat and blood that comes out of me is for him, he is my motivation.”

Browne has been training in Floyd Mayweather's Las Vegas gym and is undefeated in his past 10 bouts.

"Mundine is a poor imitation of Mayweather,” Browne said.

"He might come close in the talking department, but everyone knows there is no other comparison.

"Mundine is there to be hit. I've lost count of how many times he's been knocked down in his last few fights.”

The winner of the January 17 bout at Star Casino will be in contention for a shot at England's WBO world middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders.
